When Motorola launches Moto X this summer, it’ll have at least one feature no other smart phone to date can claim: It’ll be made in the USA. At a conference last month, Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside confirmed the phone would be made at Flextronics, a manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, that used to make Nokia phones. It’ll be designed, engineered and assembled in the United States, although components will be made overseas. With the announcement, Motorola, which is owned by Google, joins a growing list of companies — including industry giants Apple and General Electric — that are making a commitment to make more products at home.
